The sun was in my eyes

The Excuses Have Begun.  I have faithfully reproduced the first communication received directly from Kevin.  In this e-mail, Kevin blames an un-named family member for swiping his coat.

Christmas visitors-
Mick & I have searched all over the house, and cannot find a black Columbia shell, or the red/blue reversible down liner that went inside it.  We vaguely remember someone being here in the winter (Christmas we think) who needed a warm jacket to go sledding or something with the kids.  Do any of you remember borrowing it over Christmas?  Temps on the upper half of Kilimanjaro are 0-32F, so I'm going to need to find one or buy one soon.
Thanks-
Kevin

Can you all imagine how this will be the root cause of expedition failure?

  1. Boy the excuses are coming already. I would suggest Kevin borrow one of Veronica'a coats, as that will probably provide all the warmth he will need at his climbing altitude.
I also think the blog should start a pool as to the first one that drops out of the climb and at what elevation.

  2. My excuse - I am allergic to sulfa drugs and therefore cannot take Diamox, the drug highly recommended to reduce the chances of Acute Mountain Sickness (altitude sickness). It will be just me (and 20 porters) against the mountain.

  3. I agree, there needs to be a pool of some sort. Not the one they're wishing for in the hotel at the bottom of the hill.

By the way, TUMS works great for altitude sickness, it helps to take away the constant urge to puke. That & a lot of water.
