Uneventful flights. Got into Tanzania around 8 pm Tuesday. Paid $400 cash for our 4 visas, picked up luggage, met our driver and showed up at the hotel around 10 pm. Rained steady last night.
We have two very, very small rooms. The electric power is off and on. Clean, no bugs, but that's about it.
Went to bed by 11 pm. Slept until 7 or 8 am. Had fruits and cereal and thick coffee for breakfast. Met our two guides, Frances (Frances with an 'e') and Steven. We'll have two guides and 22 porters. Had 30 minutes of orientation. Took a medical survey, recorded our pulse and blood O2 saturation-- Allison's was the highest @ 99%. Then spent 1-2 hours unpacking and repacking.
We are now at an internet cafe. The power has gone out twice since I started this note. I could not remember my gmail account info so i had to set up a new one. keyboard layout is different from home.
We are at 2,800 feet +/- 12 feet. Should be on the trail tomorrow around 1 pm. may not have a sat phone link on thursday since we are spending the night in the rain forest - might not get sat connection through the trees.
