June 22 report from Karanga Camp (delayed)

13,198 feet, 6:30 pm

We are sleeping in the clouds at Karanga camp tonight.

At 8:40 am we left Baranco camp at 13,047 feet and within 10 minutes were climbing the Baranco wall. They call it a wall for a reason. It starts at 13,044 and peaks at 13,893 feet. Most of the ascent was a climb and not a hike. In many areas hand holds were required. I am surprised we were not asked to sign more release forms before we started this section.

So far no injuries with the exception of mole skin required on Kevin’s right heel.
